A young professional wanted to add structural and aesthetic components to his newly constructed loft. An avid wine collector, he tasked Widler Architectural with designing a showcase for his collection along with enhancing the home’s pre-existing finishes.
Having limited square footage to work with, Widler strategically configured the entryway to include a wine-storage system. A deep cherry-wood display now houses and highlights 300 vintage wines, and a library ladder provides appeal and function.
Standing perpendicular to the wine exhibit, an earth-toned, stone-clad wall bridges and perfectly balances the natural oak floor and the industrial concrete ceiling. For continuity, a cherry-wood built-in entertainment center was added to the living room, and the entryway stone was applied to the living room fireplace.
Adding to the home’s ambiance, custom gallery lighting illuminates the homeowner’s unique wines; rail lighting guides visitors through the hall and into the main living area; and contemporary glass pendants hang above the kitchen island.
