Historic Tudor Home Renovation in Winnetka by Widler Architecture
Widler Architecture led the full renovation and redesign of this charming Tudor-style home in Winnetka, Illinois, blending historic preservation with modern architectural design. In collaboration with design-build experts Grace and KC Kaage, this project honors the timeless character of a classic Tudor home while introducing smart, functional upgrades for contemporary family living.
The homeowners, a growing family drawn to the home’s original details, were looking to update the layout for better flow, light, and everyday comfort. We opened up the main living areas to create a more connected floor plan, ideal for both entertaining and family life. The fully remodeled chef’s kitchen now features a La Cornue range, custom breakfast nook, and a beautifully appointed butler’s pantry.
Upstairs, a new primary suite was designed as a peaceful retreat, complete with a spa-inspired bathroom, custom millwork, and warm, layered finishes. Original elements like the fireplace surrounds and wood detailing were carefully restored to preserve the home’s heritage while incorporating high-end materials for a refreshed look.
The exterior was also transformed with a new color palette, copper gutters, and updated landscaping, giving the home enhanced curb appeal and architectural cohesion. Every aspect of this Winnetka Tudor renovation was thoughtfully considered to elevate both form and function.
From historic home renovations to luxury kitchen remodels and custom additions, Widler Architecture specializes in transforming legacy properties into modern homes designed for how families live today.
