ORRINGTON AVE.
DESCRIPTION
Location: Evanston, IL
Situated in a neighborhood of historic homes skirting the Northwestern University campus, this project’s vision started as an older home renovation but evolved into a complete interior and exterior rehab. Wilder Architecture updated the home with a new front porch, stunning white columns, and new windows and stucco to complement the existing brick. The addition on the back was renovated to host a primary bathroom and closet to expand the main suite.
The interiors came down to the studs, new insulation was added, and high-efficiency mechanical systems were introduced to significantly increase its energy efficiency. Last but certainly not least, the sizeable backyard took center stage. A patio, a garden with lush greenery, and a fire pit help open up the back of the house, turning it into a space to gather in the warmer months.
